Gasztrip was founded in 2012 by chef Jordi Gimeno (Barcelona, 1970) with more than 25 years of experience in the hotel industry and culinary trips around Europe, America and Asia. During this long voyage he worked in restaurants that can be found in the Michelin Guide, like the Fonda Xesc in Gombrén, Catalonia, or the Restaurant Palau Reial of Alghero, in Sardinia.

In 2000, he travels to India and holds different workshops for professionals in the major hotel chains of the country (The Oberoi, Taj, Sheraton…). In 2001, 2007 and 2012, he organizes Spanish Food Festivals in Mumbai and Bangalore with The Oberoichain. This was the time when the idea of Gasztrip was born. A project that was developing during the time he worked as a teacher at the University of Szeged, in Hungary. He drew a profit from this period and wrote his award winning science fiction novel, El somriure d'un eco (The smile of an echo).
